The 2017 TFIM Finals, a renewed success!
The party atmosphere reigned last Friday, April 28 at Complexe Sportif Longueuil during the long awaited day of the TFIM finals. This year, approximately 450 people attended the 39th edition in order to celebrate and encourage their teams.
In total, sixteen teams from levels I to IV competed for the gold, silver and bronze medals. The first matches began at 8 am and continued all day until 5:30 pm.
The gold medals were won by Longueuil 1, Tennis 13 IIC, Carrefour III and Piedmont IV. The silver medals were won by Nun’s Island I, Piedmont II, Brossard IIIC and Nun’s Island IVC. All the matches were action-packed and thoroughly enjoyed by the spectators.
The bronze medal for level I was won by Carrefour after a very tight battle with Piedmont. Brossard A won the level II match against Côte-de-Liesse A, whereas Piedmont got the better of Boucherville A in level III. In level IV, the local Longueuil team reigned over Boucherville A.
Once all the matches were over, a short ceremony took place to honor the winners and give away different prizes. Julie Kelertas, TFIM President, announced that the Best Sportsmanship Award would be renamed the ‘Ada Colomb Trophy’ in honor of a wonderful TFIM member who exhibited exemplary sportsmanship and who unfortunately recently passed away after her battle with disease. This year’s trophy was awarded to Samantha Phillips from Côte-de-Liesse IIA. For Captains of the Year, the honors were awarded to Diane Dumas from Brossard IB, Julie Martinez from Piedmont II, Hélène Pigeon from Tennis 13 IIIB and Françoise Vinet from Carrefour IVA. Congratulations to all!
Throughout the day, numerous members won gifts graciously offered by Babolat. Members were also eligible to win two door prizes. The first was a weekend at Tremblant, generously offered by the International Tennis Academy Mont-Tremblant , which was given to Sylvie Morrison from Brossard IIA by Mr. André Lemaire. The second prize was a vacuum robot, offered by Miele, and won by Denise Touchette from Brossard IVA. After supper, the party got started in the hands of DJ César!
The TFIM organizing committee and the Complexe Sportif Longueuil worked together to organize this beautiful celebration of tennis. We would like to thank all the members of TFIM who attended as your participation is directly linked to the success of this great day.
